Yesterday was National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Day - and it certainly re-opened my eyes to how incredibly lucky I am to have such a vibrant and healthy child. Last year, dear friends delivered a stillborn baby and I think of them often and said the following prayer for them yesterday and for all of the other parents who have experienced such a loss (Psalm copied from a blog, bravely written by a family who recently experienced loss, which opened my eyes to National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Day). My heart aches for all of these families.

Psalm 121
1 I lift up my eyes to the hills—
where does my help come from?

2 My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;

4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The LORD watches over you—
the LORD is your shade at your right hand;

6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.

he will watch over your life;

both now and forevermore.

Every once in awhile you need an eye-opener to bring you back to reality - to remind you what is truly important. It's easy to get bogged down in everyday life and miss all of the wonderful things that make up your life. For me, yesterday, was a reminder to how beautiful my life truly is and how close I came to being one of the families that I prayed for yesterday. There were two times in her life that I thought Saela would not survive and those were truly the scariest moments in my life so I wanted to take the opportunity to tell her this:

Saela,
Something I never want you to forget is from the moment your daddy and I knew about you - we have loved you. Only when you have a child of your own will you realize the depth of our love for you. We continue to be so grateful to God for keeping you safe for us to nurture and love.

Saela has definitely become a walker. Every day over the last week she has taken more and more steps and will now let go of things and just start walking on her own! She even walked to me when I picked her up from school on Friday! We are all very excited about the achievement of her latest milestone! When she was little (because she's a big walking girl now) she had this habit of blowing her nose which was not all that ladylike - but it sure has come in handy - because now when we say "blow" and hold up a kleenex - she knows exactly what we are talking about! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

September at the Greens' went by in a blur! I hope to be back to posting at least once per week soon! Saela has started taking more steps - starting last Friday, she will take 4-5 steps at a time. I expect her to take off in no time now. She has mastered going up the stairs and down - although we still need to be close as from time to time she would like to try diving front first. She continues to be an overall calm baby - but is also definitely becoming more vocal with her wants and dislikes - like when she is done eating - she is done. We have survived the first molar (bottom left) and her first top two molars are coming in simultaneously. She continues to love daycare - especially "art." We have already compiled quite a little collection of "Art by Saela." Well, I guess that's about all for now - we hope all of you are doing well! Love, the Greens

Crazy Week

Hello Everybody -

Mom thought she would take a break from the blog - so I thought I'd come give you an update. Last week I had an MRI of my brain to make sure I didn't have hydrocephalus (extra fluid around my brain) - the test came back normal and we thanked God for that result. (My head is a little bit off the charts size wise - now we know it's just my genes.) Grandma Green came and stayed with me and then on Thursday we went back to her house to spend the weekend together. We had so much fun - we visited lots of people, went to a wedding, played in the church nursery and just had a grand old time. While I was away - Dad & Mom celebrated their fourth anniversary. They couldn't celebrate on the actual day because Dad was in New York on a business trip but they went out to a nice dinner on Friday and to a movie on Saturday. Mom spent her weekend organizing the house and she got almost everything done on her list. She also received good news - she passed her boards! I guess all that studying paid off - I'll have to remember that in the future. Mom, Dad, Jax & Jilly came to pick me up on Sunday. I clapped and smiled when I saw my mom - it was great to see her! Jax & Jilly were just as crazy as ever - but running around at G'ma & G'pa's house always tires them out. This week is back to normal - I'm back at "school" and even had my first school pictures taken today. Mom & Dad can't believe what a big girl I am already. I am even taking tentative steps now - pretty soon I'll be running around and they won't be able to catch me! Well, I guess that's about it for an update. Mom wanted me to tell you that she has a couple of new pictures and she will post them soon. I love and miss you all - Saela
