Given that it has been 2 years and 3 days since my last post, there is a high probability that no one may ever read this one but since I actually did remember my password onto the site - I will write one anyway. Today, Saela started second grade and Asher started Kindergarten. We made a difficult decision at the end of the 2013-2014 school year to keep Saela in 1st grade for one more year to allow her to be in class with same aged peers. I affectionately call 2014-2015 our "do-over" year - for them and for me. Now, however, we are moving on and time is flying by.
I washed Saela's hair last night and helped her get dressed this morning even though she is fully capable of doing those things by herself. I wonder if those will be the last times that I help with regular daily tasks. As I was curling her hair this morning, I tried to just commit it all to memory as one day she will curl her own hair too. Just like there was the day when I no longer had to wash the high chair food tray...these other "mom" tasks will too soon become a thing of the past. I hope that through the hustle and bustle of the year that I can take a breath to remember that time is short and all too soon she will be off strong, independent and beautiful all on her own.
My "best boy" Asher started Kindergarten today and there you have it - both kids in full fledged school. As I was putting him to bed tonight - he asked me to "sing my song" again - which is actually something I hum and I gladly obliged to one more rendition of "Lullaby and goodnight". I always say "my best boy" and he says "my best girl." I say, "I love you Buddy" and he says, "I love you mommy." I know that there will come a day that I will no longer be his best girl and thus I will cherish every night that I am.
Goodnight and God Bless.
