On Our Way to Walt Disney World 2012

September 29, 2012
~
We set out on our first trip to Disney World...in the car.
Surprisingly the outbursts and fights were manageable.
Perhaps this was due to the multitude of super healthy snacks like
Mini Oreo Cookies, Teddy Grahams and Animal Crackers that
filled our snack bag.  The cheese sticks, fruit and lunch meat were
the less popular choices.  Shocking, I know.

Never Too Old...

...to drink out of a Big Bird cup.

This is my cup from childhood.
I still drink out of it.
It may or may not be, in this very picture, filled with an adult beverage.
This makes FIVE posts for September - maybe I will celebrate tonight
with my Big Bird cup. Cheers!

Asher sleeping with all of his "friends."
Can you see him in there?

My Beautiful Babies

Asher in one of his favorite shirts: Toy Story!
It is not his favorite shirt though -
the "lighter" Mickey shirt wins for his favorite.
He wears that one, every night, to bed.
It is not fit to be put in a picture.

Playing outside on a beautiful day.
They look so grown-up - when did that happen?

Saela wearing a dress that I wore when I was a little girl!
It was quite nostalgic seeing my baby girl
wearing a dress that I remember wearing!

Mommy/Daughter Time

I was fortunate to be able to take the afternoon off on Saela's 5th birthday.  We were silly and goofy and then followed this up with a short nap - which I may have enjoyed more than she did?!? :)

Random Facts

See that itty bitty baby by Asher's right hand.  Yep, that's one of his favorites.  Guess what has been lost since June?  Yep, that little lovey.  I fully, 100% blame myself.  I KNEW not to send it to Michigan when Steve, Saela and Asher went up there in June.  It did not come home with him and I think since that time - so 60 days or so, there have been maybe hmmm 5 days that he has not said some version of "find my widdle baby and my widdle doggie."  Oh, how it breaks my heart!!
Here Saela is "organizing" the food during one of our recent grocery trips.  She is definitely my kid.
~
I'm not sure how, but life just seems to get busier as you go along.  Both of the kids are back in school - and so we have some semblance of routine but mix-in activities and homework (yes, homework in kindergarten) and the nights just seem to pass so quickly.  We've been busy with a couple of trips this summer too - to MI, MN and Kansas City MO/KS - we loved being able to spend time so much time with family and friends.  I will, hopefully, eventually, maybe have more pictures up sometime this year/decade/century. :)

Our Sweet Baby Girl has also turned FIVE!!  We had a party for her on the 18th and some Baskin Robbins Turtle Pie on her actual birthday.  I hope to post some pictures of that, too, sometime soon.  Hope all of you are well!

P.S. Aunt JoAnn - this one's for you ;)

Happy Father's Day 2012

Considering Father's Day was less than a month ago - I would consider this excellent blogging progress!  Go ahead - smirk...at least it's not July 31st ;).  The kids get to pick out our "presents" on Mother's/Father's Day.  This year Saela chose a Happy Birthday coloring book and Asher chose a Toy Story water bottle.  Steve has been gracious to share these items with them over the last month.  One of Steve's favorite treats is Turtle Pie from Baskin Robbins - so we had that for dessert and it was quite tasty.  Love you Babe who Asher would say is "the Best Daddy!"

Saela and Miss Powers

Saela met her teacher Miss Powers a little over a year ago in summer camps/workshops at her would-be school.  I think that summer experience really helped Saela transition easily into her role at PCA and Miss Powers quickly became one of Saela's favorite people.  Although a little leary of walking down the aisle with one of Miss Power's matrons of honor, my sweet girl did a fabulous job and saved her best smile for the end of the night with the bride herself.  Congratulations to the happy couple from us all!

Asher is Three!!

Asher requested pink strawberry cupcakes, so these are pink on the inside.  They were a semi-success as I still have not mastered our oven and cupcakes.  The edges were um, a little crispy.  We picked out the best ones though and since Asher and Saela primarily eat the frosting anyway, they didn't seem to mind.  He also picked out Thomas the Train napkins and plates.  The birthday sign you see hanging in the background is still hanging in my kitchen one month later.  I believe it will just stay up until Saela's birthday in August.  It can be a "birthday summer."

Sprinkler Fun on a Hot Hot Day in May

Okay, so I know it's June...but better late than never.  I may give you the same song and dance every month because every month it's later and later and I panic and tell Steve, I NEED TO DO THE BLOG BEFORE THE END OF THE MONTH.  Well, the way I see it, I still have 5 hours and 51 minutes. :)

They loved the sprinklers.  I'm sure they would love it today to given that it's 110+ degrees out, but I am afraid that even with copious amounts of sunscreen, there little bodies would fry right up, so we went to a movies instead.

Happy Birthday Sweet Boy

 Asher William Green
5.29.09

My Dear Sweet Boy,

Three years ago today you entered our lives and we cannot possibly imagine our days without you.  Last night, I spent a little extra time saying goodnight...the last night that I would be the mother of 2 year old.  After I left, you started singing your ABCs and I just can't believe that you are old enough to know your ABCs or that you know your name starts with 'A'.  You have been very vocal from day one and you try to use that to your advantage many times saying, "Wellllll..." after we have asked you to so something.  It can be frustrating, but most of the time, I am smiling on the inside.  You are energetic and witty and your easy smiles melt my heart and brighten my days.

We love you so much Asher.  We look forward to making a lifetime of memories with you.  Love, Mommy, Daddy, Saela, Jax & Jilly

Last of the Twos

My shaggy boy before a haircut.

These were taken today - on the last day of being two.
(Trust me, I am wailing on the inside.)
The many faces of my sweet boy...
 Mr. Mischievous
 Mr. Pouty Lip
 Mr. Fun
Mr. Happy Face
This is the face I get when I am telling the kids to put on a happy face.  He busts this one out every single time and it cracks me up and melts my heart every single time.  He is quick to point out his happy face - especially if his sister does not come up with one :).

I cannot believe that he is going to be THREE tomorrow.

Memorial Day 2012

We attempted to teach the kids the meaning behind Memorial Day today.  They were first confused about why we were going out to breakfast without going to church which is our Sunday morning ritual.  They are not quite in tune to the concept of a holiday yet.  We talked about soldiers and how they protect America and the people that live here.  I am not sure how much sunk in - but they did like their flags.  Hopefully, someday, they will understand why we respect and honor the past and present service men and women who give so much of themselves every single day to allow us our freedoms and rights.  We thank you.
