Memorial Day 2012
We attempted to teach the kids the meaning behind Memorial Day today. They were first confused about why we were going out to breakfast without going to church which is our Sunday morning ritual. They are not quite in tune to the concept of a holiday yet. We talked about soldiers and how they protect America and the people that live here. I am not sure how much sunk in - but they did like their flags. Hopefully, someday, they will understand why we respect and honor the past and present service men and women who give so much of themselves every single day to allow us our freedoms and rights. We thank you.

Phew...
MY BOYS
My sweet Asher
...who except for wearing the cautionary pull-up at night is FULLY POTTY TRAINED!
My hot husband
...who loves me even when I am a crazy mess.
My first baby Jax
...who could still give a kangaroo a run for his money.
MY GIRLS
My Sassy Jilly
...who is still as soft as a puppy!
My Sweet Baby Girl
...looking just way to grown up!
Playset Fun
The kids love having a swing set in their own backyard. Saela can "pump" herself on the swings and really gets quite high...makes me a little nervous sometimes. I am sure we will have a million and one moments to remember out here this summer!
Saela & Soccer
So, we decided to enroll Saela in soccer this spring. Her team is the SHARKS. I am not going to lie, she is not a big fan. At practices, she will run...a little. At games, you can pretty much guarantee that if the action is at one end of the field, Saela is at the other. Truth be told, it is a little painful to watch - not because I don't love watching her but because I feel as if I am torturing her. We have told her that if she doesn't like it, she must finish the season to which she is committed but then she does not have to play again in the future. She does look darling though in her uniform and shin guards. Asher seems to enjoy kicking the ball around...thankfully, I got gender neutral shoes - so they can be used again!
Boots Boots Boots
Not too terribly long ago, we all wore our boots to church! It's so funny to see the kids in cowboy/girl boots but they love them! Hopefully, this means they'll at least like country music in the future!! I mean - they are going to grow up just outside of Music City!

Six on the Sixth

Okay, so today is the seventh - but yesterday was the sixth and it was Jilly's Golden sixth birthday. Really - she's six?!?!? That means Jax will be seven in just 10 more days. Ahhhh...where is they time going. Seriously - February FLEW by this year. I blinked and it was over.
~
Back to Jilly - she had a beef stick. She loved it. Jax got one too and he loved it. They were lovin' the beef sticks and I am lovin' that the beef sticks were on sale. Maybe for Jax's birthday, I will dye them green for St. Patty's Day. Wait, who I am kidding? I will be lucky if I remember to wear green on St. Patty's Day and my name is Green. St. Paddy's day is also my dad's birthday and Steve's Goddaughter's birthday - perhaps with this as a reminder - we will get their birthday wishes out on time this year. Let's not hold our breath people.

In other news: ASHER IS WEARING BIG BOY UNDERPANTS. Last week, his teacher told me he was ready which both elated and saddened me at the same time. Elated because I'm just about over cleaning poopy pants. Sad - because my boy is growing up and no matter how desperately I try - I cannot keep it from happening. So, today is day 3 in big boy underpants. He has not had any daytime accidents and we are 50/50 on nighttime so far. I figured there would be some occasional overnight issues - so I threw a pull-up over the undies and saved Steve the mess of cleaning 752 stuffed animals from a urine bath. (Did I say Steve, oh, I meant me - well not really...maybe we would have paper/rock/scissored for it.) In any case...Asher is now proudly showing off Cars, Toy Story and Phineas and Ferb big boy underpants. He is rather ambivalent - but truly we are thrilled.

All Dressed Up!

Last night, Steve and I had the opportunity to go to a fundraiser for the American Heart Association. We had a fantastic time. It was fun getting all decked out - the most dressed up we've been since our wedding! My heels were 4 1/4 inches tall...holy moly. Good thing I brought some silver slipper shoes to change into - saved my feet on the dance floor for sure. It was fun being 5' 6 3/4 " tall for awhile :).
